Accelerated TMS

Evidence-Based Innovation in Depression Care

Accelerated TMS Treatment for Depression

TMS does not have to look the same for every patient.

At New Chapter TMS, we offer three treatment paths depending on your symptoms, schedule, goals, and clinical situation:

Three TMS Options at New Chapter

Untitled-3-03.png

Standard TMS

This is the traditional TMS schedule: one treatment per day, usually Monday through Friday, over several weeks.

Standard TMS is often a strong fit for patients who:

  • want the most established and widely studied treatment structure [1]

  • prefer a steadier pace

  • schedule is better fit for regular weekday visits

1-Week Accelerated

Our 1-Week Accelerated option compresses a full standard course of TMS into one week by delivering multiple treatments per day.

This approach follows the growing literature on accelerated TMS and the pragmatic model described by Luehr et al.[2] taking the familiar 36-treatment course and delivering it in a shorter timeframe. At New Chapter, we use FDA-cleared standard 20-minute treatments in this accelerated format.

This may be a good fit for patients who:

  • want a faster treatment timeline

  • cannot realistically attend 6–8 weeks of daily visits

  • are traveling for treatment

  • want an evidence-informed accelerated option

1-Day Protocol

Our One-D Protocol is our most compressed treatment option, delivering 20 treatments in a single day.

This approach is based on emerging accelerated-TMS research associated with Jonathan Downar MD and colleagues [3]. It is designed for carefully selected patients after a thorough clinical evaluation.

This may be a good fit for patients who:

  • are seeking the most time-efficient option

  • are traveling from farther away

  • want to explore an ultra-compressed treatment schedule

  • understand this is a more specialized pathway

How the Options Compare

Standard TMS - 6–8 weeks
1-Week Accelerated - 5 days
One-D Protocol - 1 day

Three different timelines. One shared goal: helping you move toward relief.

Which Option Is Best?

There is no one “best” protocol for everyone.

The right fit depends on:

  • your depression history

  • prior treatment response

  • how quickly you want to move forward

  • your schedule and life demands

  • insurance and financial considerations

For some patients, standard TMS is the best place to start.
For others, an accelerated option may make treatment more realistic and accessible.

Why Patients Choose New Chapter for Accelerated TMS

We believe patients deserve both innovation and clarity.

That means:

  • we explain options in plain language

  • we do not use confusing labels as shortcuts

  • we offer accelerated care grounded in published research

  • we help patients compare options in a practical, non-overwhelming way

Our clinic has also been involved in formal research extending accelerated TMS protocols to teens, building on an evidence base that has historically focused on adults.
